h a p p i n e s s ❤️ • I don’t like sappy posts. I think some things are personal and should be kept that way. But tonight I saw an interaction between my husband and child that truly warmed me, and it made me contemplate happiness. I think if you ask anyone what their happiness is or what they think it is, it would be different than your own or different from the person next to them. • I believe it was Aristotle who connected the telos of one’s existence to their happiness — that by completing or achieving their end goal would bring about happiness, and thus the fulfillment of their life. • Tonight all my son wanted to do was lay with his father. He does this a lot. This weekend, after tears from teething and a short and interrupted nap, all Daniel wanted was to be with his father. And somehow everything was better after that. • One of my favorite things about my husband is how much our son loves him. The pure happiness that stretches across his little face in a smile when he hears Danny walk in the door after work makes me love and appreciate my husband more than ever before. • And this brings me back to my contemplation. The purest happiness or joy experienced by Daniel is through, merely yet outstandingly, love.
